I Am Playing Well For Chelsea And England - John Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry has hit back at criticism over his current form and insisted he is playing well for both club and country.

Following allegations over his private life, Terry’s form on the pitch has come under intense scrutiny with high-profile mistakes against both Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers coming under the microscope.

Yet the former England captain admits that those games aside, he has played well this season and he is content with his form.

“There are not many players who come out publicly and hold their hands up like I did after the Everton game," Terry told the People.

"I also had an air-kick at Wolves [Wolverhampton Wanderers] but, apart from that, I am pleased with my form this year.

"In the first-half of the season I was in really good form but after a couple of bad results, and what has gone on in recent weeks, the spotlight has been on me. But I feel as though I am playing well."

The centre-back also praised his own performance in England's 3-1 international friendly win over Egypt in midweek, insisting his leadership skills were important to his country, although he was no longer wearing the armband.

“I played well against Egypt," he added.

"It was important for me to come through that with a good performance.

"I think I did carry on as a leader against Egypt. I think anyone who was watching the game could see that."
